The Boy Scout program is for boys who are 11 years old, are at least ten years old and have finished the fifth grade, or are at least ten years old and have earned the Arrow of Light rank as a Webelos Scout. The purpose of Boy Scouting is to help boys grow into good citizens who are strong in character and personally fit.
Boy Scouts have fun outdoor activities each month, such as camping, hiking, fishing, swimming, and more. They move through the Boy Scout ranks, from Tenderfoot to Second Class to First Class to Star to Life to Eagle Scout. They earn merit badges that offer them knowledge and skills they may not have the opportunity to experience anywhere else.
Boy Scout Troop 72 is chartered by St. John United Church of Christ, Strasburg, which provides us with a meeting place, leadership selection, and year-round program support.
The Troop meets year-round at 7pm on Monday evenings; November through March at St. John UCC, and April through October at the Scout House at Strasburg-Franklin Park – it’s the building with the Boy Scout logo and Troop name painted on it.
